 By
Adrianna Barrera

As the summer temperatures start simmering down, Texan motorcycle riders know the best time to hit the road is from mid October to early May. If you're looking for the best road trip destinations in Texas for motorcycle riders, look no further! From the wide open spaces of West Texas to the Hill Country and beyond, there's something for everyone. So gas up your bike and hit the open road - you're sure to have the time of your life!

5. Enchanted Rock (Fredericksburg, TX)

Coming in at number five is one of Texas’ most enchanting sights. This trip down to Enchanted Rock is perfect for biking, and offers spectacular scenery, bends, and long stretches of highway that make this spot perfect for a day trip. Enchanted Rock is a good destination for motorcycle riders because of its many scenic trails and its proximity to the city of Austin. The rock itself is a popular spot for picnics and hiking, and the views from the top are simply breathtaking. Motorcycle riders can enjoy all of this and more while exploring the many miles of trails that the park has to offer. If you’re looking for an otherworldly experience, head to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area in the Texas Hill Country. This massive pink granite dome has been a sacred site for Native Americans for centuries and is now a mecca for rock climbers and adventurists from all over the world. The views from the top of the rock are truly breathtaking, and the sense of history and mystery that surrounds the area is unforgettable.

4. Red River Cruise (Denton, TX)

This number four spot is settled right in North Texas’ eagle country, just about 40 minutes north of Dallas. With amazing views of the river valley in Montague, and scenes of Muenster’s giant wind turbine farms, the Red River Cruise is a great day trip for North Texas bikers. Although one of the shorter trips on the list, there’s still plenty of curves and long stretches of roadways to enjoy. The Red River in Texas is a popular destination for motorcycle enthusiasts. The scenic route through the North Texas Hill Country is a great way to see the sights and enjoy the ride. On this trail many riders like to make a pit stop at Red River Harley-Davidson. The Red River has a long history with motorcycle enthusiasts dating back to the early days of motorcycling.

3. Big Bend (Big Bend National Park, TX)

Our stunning number three spot is no other than Big Bend. With one of the friendliest cities in Texas to bikers, the Big Bend trail is an essential rite of passage for Texan motorists. Big Bend has stunning desert and mountain scenery, as well as beautiful blue-bonnet views in all of Texas in the spring. This cruiser route has plenty of rest-stops and is very well maintained with lots of bends and straight-flat roads. The Big Bend is a motorcycle enthusiast's paradise. With its long, winding roads and spectacular scenery, the Big Bend is a popular destination for motorcyclists from all over the country. The history of the Big Bend and its motorcycle culture dates back to the early 1900s, when the first motorcyclists began exploring the area. Since then, the Big Bend has been a mecca for motorcycle riders, and its roads have been featured in many films and television shows. This sight also hosts beautiful and adventurous camping grounds, so be sure to check those out and plan for a longer trip!

2. The Twisted Sisters (Medina, TX)

One of the most well known routes in Texas couldn’t miss our number two spot. Located in Hill Country, the Twisted Sisters ride is a trip made perfect for a weathered and experienced rider. The Twisted Sisters are a set of three motorcycle trails in the Texas Hill Country. The trails are named after the three sisters who originally settled the area: Rebecca, Sarah, and Mary. The trails are popular with motorcycle enthusiasts for their scenic views and challenging terrain. The trails are also known for their popularity with outlaw motorcycle gangs in the 1970s and 1980s. This 100 mile loop has tight twists, curves and steep hills that go through beautiful canyon scenery and takes around 4 hours to complete. Don’t miss out on these panoramic views and be sure to fill up the tank before you hit the road. Although this is a really great route for riders, new riders should bear caution, as this road is full of twists and turns and has slightly higher motorcycle accident rates than the rest of the destinations on this list.

1. Palo Duro Canyon (Canyon, TX)

Coming in at number one, is one of my favorite and most sacred places in Texas. Palo Duro Canyon is a canyon located in the Texas Panhandle near the city of Amarillo. The canyon is approximately 120 miles long and 20 miles wide, making it one of the largest canyons in the United States, just under the Grand Canyon. Palo Duro Canyon is known for its dramatic landscapes, including colorful cliffs, mesas and beautiful canyon views. Palo Duro is not only the second biggest canyon in the United States, but is home to a culture and scenery so rich in beauty that you can only truly appreciate it in person. The Palo Duro Canyon loop is a great route for canyon and desert views, and offers bikers a friendly community to visit. With great paved roads, this route is great for sight-seeing and riding all-together. Stay the night at one of the camping facilities and witness the beautiful starry night-sky.
