Cardo Packtalk Edge Review

When it comes to riding motorcycles, one of the most underrated and highly useful tools you can get to make your life easier are Bluetooth Communication Systems. Not only can they help you plan your trip, but they allow you to have a hands-off approach to navigation, can let you listen to music and most importantly, let you have rider communication between you and your crew.

However, some audio communication systems have left bad tastes in many riders' mouths. With muffled audio, unstable connectivity and even battery lives that won’t last the shortest trip, it can be easy to see why some people are wary of Bluetooth communication devices.

But, when a device like the Packtalk Edge comes into play, you’ll understand why it can be so essential to have in your gear lineup. The latest headset model from Cardo’s lineup is one of the best to come out in 2022.

Not only is the Packtalk Edge their new flagship product, but it is an upgrade from their previous Bold. There are many different features that set this device apart from others in its class, so I’ll try to go into detail about the biggest features improvements from the Edge.

Packtalk Edge Features:

One of the many features is that this product is waterproof and can withstand a variety of elements, such as: rain, snow, dust and mud. The packtalk is sure to keep you connected through rain or shine and is a great investment for riders who love to tour and go on off-road adventures.

Another great highlight from the Edge is its range. It can support up to 15 riders all within a miles range of each other. It’s the perfect tool if you’re looking to go out riding with a big group of friends. Additionally, it has universal connectivity, meaning it supports Bluetooth connectivity for any brand.

Some of the audio features that really make the Cardo Edge standout are the automatic volume (this changes your volume based on the outside sound around you), Natural Voice Operation, which kind of works like saying “Hey Siri”, but instead you just say: “Hey Cardo” and the rest is done for you. Further, the headset has FM radio integrated, JBL and Dynamic Mesh Communication, which means you’ll have great audio and unwavering sound quality.

Upgrades From The Packtalk Bold:

Besides the obvious features on the Packtalk Edge, there are some really good improvements made from its predecessor, the Packtold Bold.

One of the major upgrades to the system is the lack of antenna. You may be wondering if the removal of the antenna will affect the range. The answer is no. You still get the great Cardo audio quality and range, all while looking discreet and completely uniform.

What I really like about this model, compared to the Bold, is the new application. It’s so easy and you don’t have to worry about it falling off due to the ultra-strong magnet that clips the Cardo on. Also, there is more than one way to apply the headset to your helmet, which is great for riders who might need a headset for their off-road helmet. You can either clip it to the inside of your helmet, or just stick it on with the adhesive Cardo provides. Either way, it's a really easy process and all you need to do is flip a button to take the Packtalk Edge out from its magnetic mount.

Packtalk Edge Price:

Now, I know the price is a little high, at around $325, but given the other headsets that are out there on the market, it’s safe to say that the investment is worth it. You just can’t get the same quality elsewhere.

Not only is the headset extremely durable, reliable and has great sound quality, but if it happens to break in any instance or give you trouble, you get a three-year warranty right off the bat. So while you might be questioning the price, think about all the money you’ll be spending replacing cheaper-made headsets and the frustration that comes with it. There’s just no comparison to the Packtalk Edge.

Conclusion:

Overall, the Cardo Packtalk Edge is one of my top gear picks of 2022, and in my opinion, is a great investment. Especially if you ride with your buddies consistently, or just like listening to music and planning your route, when out on the road. Cardo really stepped up their game with this product and I’m sure you’ll hear others who have this product say the same.
