Ana's Harley Davidson Iron 883 // Spirit of Camaraderie

 By
Kelly Kozakowski

Why did you choose your Harley Davidson Iron 883?

At the time I felt like this Harley Davidson was a good size for me to start with. Nothing I couldn’t handle as a fresh beginner. On top of that, I loved the blacked out styling, and the candy red is just to die for. Once I changed the pipes and heard the roar, there was no going back!

How did you get into riding motorcycles?
My dad used to ride when I was very young, and he’d always let me ride with him. There was one time we slipped on some sand during a tight turn and fell- we were going pretty slow- but we just laughed and got right back up on the bike. I’ve known since then that I wanted to ride when I was old enough.

What inspires you to ride?
The community. I have met some of my closest friends through motorcycling, and stumbled upon the most incredible opportunities, and it has absolutely changed my life for the better.

Why did you decide to make your Instagram?
My Instagram was actually my personal profile for the longest time, until I noticed that I was gaining a little bit of a following for the motorcycle stuff. Then one day I received a comment from a fellow lady rider saying that I had inspired her to learn to ride so she could ride side-by-side with her husband, like I do with mine. That was the biggest honor for me, and that day I decided to start making a more concerted effort to make my profile motorcycle-centric. If I can inspire even just one other woman to get out and ride, then all the effort is worth it.

What is the best life lesson you've learned from owning/riding a motorcycle?
Patience, on many levels! Patience to hold off on buying more bike parts until I have the money, haha. Patience when I’m working on a bike and the job takes longer than expected, which is what happens most of the time (don’t have a certain tool, missing a part, etc). Patience for when I want to ride more, but life is getting in the way. The list is endless, and it’s certainly extended to other areas of my life.

What is the most exciting adventure you’ve taken on a bike?
So far, it wasn’t really a destination, but it was when I got to lead a 14-person ride through some very beautiful local backroads. We were all connected on our Senas, which was a mess as you can imagine, but it was such a blast. There was an energizing spirit of camaraderie in the air and everyone had a wonderful time on the ride, myself included. The feeling it brings as I reminisce is what I hope every future adventure has in store for me.

What does being a part of the motorcycle community mean to you?
I know this is a pretty general sentiment, but to me it means family. It means meeting anyone from any walk of life, any age or background, and immediately connecting with them through the love of riding.
