At the launch of the new CE 04 electric scooter in Barcelona, Spain, BMW stated that it would no longer be developing gasoline-powered bikes in what the company calls the urban mobility segment. The 04 in the name, incidentally, refers to the 400cc bikes it is aimed at, with BMW hinting at there being a lower-output CE 02 and maybe a larger CE 06 in the pipeline. The CE 04 from BMW is a midsize electric scooter with a range of 80 miles and a top speed capped at 75 mph. This gives plenty of mileage for a full day of buzzing about in town, with enough performance for a bit of highway work when required. The 8.9kWh battery module is derived from the one used in the BMW iX electric car and is mounted right at the bottom of the chassis, allowing it to be air-cooled. The optional Mode 3 fast-charging cable allows charging from 0 to 80 percent in just 1 hour, 5 minutes.
